The Stewart Farm

The Sunday was warm from the ground up. The cows were out in the field licking and chewing away to bring us their milk. I opened the shed doors, sat in the Mercedes driver’s seat and breathed in the aroma and watched the dust wafting in the sunrays. The engine started easily, so I drove it outside for a wash.

The cat, the dogs and the cows were fine so I changed to my town clothes, pushed the canvas roof open and rolled up my shirt sleeves. The Mercedes was a comfortable cruiser. I did not expect more from a Sunday. After Saturday Night the town was quiet. I parked in the middle of the town square having my soft ice cream, looking at the cobblestones and thinking about the cows in the field. It was time to lick off the ice cream and cruise back to the cat, the dogs and the cows in the green meadow.
